A TEEN confessed to strangling his pregnant sister and staging her disappearance because she was "an embarrassment to their family."
Eduardo Arevalo, 19, decided to fake his 23-year-old sister's suicide after he killed her, dumped her body in the trunk of his car, and left her rural area in Texas.
Arevalo admitted to detectives on Monday that a family conflict led him to kill his sister.
He called her an “embarrassment to their family” and said “it would be better off that she wasn't here,” police stated.
Prior to revealing his actions, he wrote a fake suicide note and claimed it to be his sister's-leading his family to trust his claims, FOX 4 reported .
However, once his family started inquiring about their daughter, Eduardo decided to retrieve his dead sister's body and leave it in an alley in her hometown.
Colony Police Sgt. Aaron Woodard spoke out during a news conference Monday : "As the week went on, Eduardo stated that he wanted his family to know where Viri was at so he went and picked up her body and brought her back Sunday morning in the early morning hours and dumped her body in the alleyway. "
Soon after, police received a call about an unconscious female who was found lying in an alley on Monday morning.
Detectives from The Colony Police Department identified the young woman as Eduardo's sister, Viridiana Arevalo.
Viridiana-who was eight months pregnant-was reported missing by her boyfriend on December 17th.
With the help of security footage, Viridiana's brother was pinpointed as a suspect.
Sgt. Woodard said: "We really want to thank members of the community for sharing their home surveillance and doorbell cameras with us because that really assisted the investigation and helped piece together the timeline for this."
